Two Guinness World Records broken in 2009 for the largest handwashing event for children!

2009 Guinness World Record Success

In 2009 Lifebuoy set two World Records for handwashing. In Bangladesh and India, Lifebuoy and its partners were awarded prestigious Guinness World Records for their fantastic efforts in getting children to wash their hands as part of Global Handwashing Day celebrations.

Bangladesh in 2009: Lifebuoy and its partners - The Department of Engineering of the Government of Bangladesh, Unicef, NGO Forum, Save the Children, Brac, Safe, Plan and Care gathered children from across the country on Global Handwashing Day to safeguard their original World Record for handwashing. The World Record handwashing celebrations began in Dhaka with thousands of children participating in handwashing events. Children in locations all over the country then joined in, resulting in a total record breaking 52,970 children handwashing with Lifebuoy in multiple locations!

India in 2009: Lifebuoy, the World Health Organization and the Government of Tamil Nadu in India was also successful in 2009 of breaking the Guinness World Record for handwashing, with thousands of children washing their hands in just one location. A fantastic 15,115 children washed their hands with Lifebuoy soap at Nehru Stadium, Chennai, India for Global Handwashing Day.
